Stamina Privacy Policy
Chrome extension focus timer ·
Summary: Stamina does not collect, sell, or transmit your personal information to our servers. Timer state and settings are stored only in your browser on your device.
This Privacy Policy describes how Stamina (“we,” “us,” or “the extension”) handles information when you install and use the Stamina browser extension published on the Chrome Web Store. By using Stamina, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Stamina is a personal Pomodoro-style focus timer. It helps you run timed focus sessions and breaks from the browser toolbar popup.
2. Information we collect
We do not operate backend servers for Stamina and do not collect personal information from you. The extension does not require an account, does not ask for your name or email, and does not send timer or usage data to us or to third-party analytics services.
3. Information stored on your device
To work correctly, Stamina saves data locally in your browser using the
Chrome storage API (chrome.storage.local). This
data stays on your device unless you remove the extension or clear
extension data.
Locally stored data may include:
- Current timer phase (focus, short break, or long break)
- Timer status (idle, running, or paused) and time remaining
- Your settings (session lengths, cycle length, theme)
- A count of completed focus sessions for the current calendar day
We do not have access to this data. Only you (and Chrome on your device) can read or change it through the extension or browser settings.
4. What we do not do
- We do not read or modify the content of web pages you visit beyond showing your chosen timer overlay (for example, a ring or top bar).
- We do not track your browsing history or search activity.
- We do not use advertising or marketing trackers.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
5. Browser permissions
Stamina requests only the permissions needed for timer functionality. Each is used as follows:
- storage — Save and restore your timer state and settings on your device.
- alarms — Keep the timer accurate when the popup is closed, fire when a phase ends, and update the toolbar badge with minutes remaining.
- notifications — Show a system notification when a focus or break phase ends.
- offscreen — Play a short completion sound when a phase ends. Chrome requires an offscreen document for audio playback; it is not used to access page content.
Stamina may inject a small overlay on pages you visit to show your selected display theme. It does not collect page text or browsing history.
6. Third parties
Stamina does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or social networks. Distribution is through the Chrome Web Store, which is operated by Google and subject to Google’s Privacy Policy for store account and download-related processing.
7. Data retention and deletion
Local data remains until you change it in the extension, clear extension storage in Chrome, or uninstall Stamina. Uninstalling the extension removes locally stored extension data from your browser.
8. Your choices
- You can pause, reset, or skip timer phases at any time.
- You can control or disable notifications in your operating system or Chrome settings.
-
You can remove the extension at any time from
chrome://extensions.
9. Children’s privacy
Stamina is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because we do not collect personal information through the extension, no child-specific data is processed by us.
10. International users
Stamina processes information only on your device. No cross-border transfer of personal data to us occurs because we do not receive your data.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Stamina after changes means you accept the updated policy. Material changes may also be noted in Chrome Web Store release notes where appropriate.
12. Contact
Questions about this Privacy Policy or Stamina’s privacy practices can be sent through the GitHub repository linked from the Chrome Web Store listing for Stamina (for example, via the repository’s Issues page).
